In the village of Lefktro, east of Stoupa, there is a castle that according to Pausanias was the temple of Athens with its statue. During the Frankish period the castle was rebuilt and given the name Beaufort, which means “beautiful castle”. The Prastova mine in Neo Proastio, where Nikos Kazantzakis and Alexis Zorbas worked, is also accessible to tourists. The mountain routes of Taygetos, the gorges of Byros, Noupanti and Koskarga are suitable for cycling, hiking and mountaineering.

The settlement is new. It is built at the foot of Taygetos, in an area that was formerly known as “Potamos” because of the river Drakos or Drakolagados which during the winter season ends at the beach of Stoupa. The rest of the time it flows underground. Also the two small rivers Agia Paraskevi and Lygia flow constantly and are visible on the beach. Characteristic is the rock called Stoupa, as well as a set of reefs and reefs known as “the river you know”. The beaches of the area, Kalogria, Avloi, Stoupa, Halikoura etc. They are suitable for tourism, while in the past the inhabitants of the neighboring villages went to get drinking water, to wash, for fishing but also to process the lupins. On the rocks of Kalogria, water gushes from a spring that springs in Taygetos, where one can swim.
